Soil Resistivity Test

11.30 AM - Pekat Teknologi Sdn Bhd came to our site to do Soil Resistivity Test. The purpose of Soil Resistivity Test is to get Ohm (Ω) calculation at the ground in order for our M&E consultant to calculate the earthing & grounding system prior to sub-structure work that has been carrying out.

They are using this tester that lookalike common digital multimeter - it is actually 5-in-1 earth and resistivity tester.

Specifications
- traditional stake-based methods
- self-diagnosis when each measurement starts, so that any faults liable to affect the measurements (bad connections or presence of disturbance signals) are indicated
- large measurement ranges: 0.001 W to 100 kW
- adjustment of the measurement frequency between 41 Hz and 512 Hz

As seen (maybe a little bit blur) there is 2 seal sticker - both are Sirim calibration sticker which valid until 28-07-2010. I'd also found the manual for this device in English.

Close up a bit the calibration sticker

Pekat Teknologi guys punching of metal stud at the measurement tape with interval of 1m. Check was done by RE (on pink shirt).

The two wire / green & blue clamp at the metal stud with 1m distance from each other.

Pekat Teknologi guys busy finalizing the set-up.

First test at 1metre

The result is out around 20 second time. The reading is 59.2 Ohm

2m test reading is 18.1 Ohm

They are repeating the interval of 1m up to 8m in total.

The result will be accumulative figure from 3 location. The above posted is location number 2 which is in the middle of site. Location 1 is in front of the main road & Location 3 is opposite Marina area.
